5:17AM USA 13:19 France Paris Airport

K- so the French airport has all these hidden doors that open and you can't really buy stuff to eat before, because you go through the gates and it isn't like the US where you can go through security and buy tons of stuff. So I dumped out my entire bottle of water and had to check my carry-on cause it was too big. Luckily Corrine speaks French so I was able to check my "large" carryon! We had some yummy crossiants from "Pauls" and I took pictures with some "football" soccer players from Tulose. They were very kind! I am hot and sweaty but quite happy! What an adventure. We used the restroom and Corrine said we might have to pay. I'm glad we didn't have to cause we had no Euros. Sister Longhurst just called her mission president. We took pictures in the flower bathroom!

Sister Longhurst just gave me a Greek lesson. She wrote down all the Greek letters that still won't help me, cause they're totally weird.

  • yasu-hello (yasas hello formal)
  • adelphi-sister
  • ticanis-how are you?
  • imecala-I'm good
  • k sis- and you?
  • apupuwine-where are you from?
  • efaristo- thank you
  • efaristopoli-thank you very much
  • paracalo-you're welcome
  • coscoqueri-how much?
  • vencatalaveno- I don't understand
  • colato-high 5
  • puineto bano- where's the bathroom
  • nay-yes
  • ohi-no
  • angleca-English

Tuesday, 2:47 USA Flying over England

Corrine and I on the plane.

A sister missionary going to Greece was on our flight on the way to Greece! I felt a lot safer knowing she was on our flight! She was kind and will make a great missionary!
England is beautiful. All the land is plotted out with really beautiful shrubbery. So my day was made as they brought around a warm crossiant and the coldest banana I have ever eaten! I am a tad tired, but guess what is making me laugh so hard that I'm embarrasing myself? The Office! (The one where Dwight and Jim get evaluated and they have to have a fake conversation and Jim says his name is "Mr. William M. Buttlicker" If you watch the Office you'll know which one I'm talking about!)

Greece here I come!

I'm Greek on my dad's side and have always wanted to go...so Spring break this year I'll be going to Greece! Incredible isn't it!

So I leave for Greece in a week from tomorrow! It's unreal! For some reason I can't download the picture but this is a sight of one of the places we're staying!

http://www.fourseasonshydra.gr/rooms_photos.aspx?sector_id=195&lang_id=2

And this the Marriot we'll be staying in:

Crazy stuff! And I just found a little bit of my grandpa's geneology. So I'm going to see what I can do there! It is going to be so cool, cause I'm going to be there over Easter and the passover.

It's been 6 years!

So March 28, 2003 I said to adios to Uruguay and hola to the USA! It was a surreal experience.

I was a solo sister coming home so I was with all Elders on my way back. Juancito came to the airport to say goodbye. I promised him I would send him a wedding announcement. He said all the missionaries say that, but never do. I told him I promised...haven't broken it yet, since I haven't had one to send out...haven't written him any other letters, but haven't broken my promise!

My First Triatholon The Ice Breaker

It was my my first tri! Jimmy invited me to do it like a week and a half before we did it! I was a little apprehensive, but I have been training for an all women's one in May 16th so I decided that this one might be a great training and to see what I need to work on! There's a lot to work on that is for sure! We started out Swimming 300 meters, which I have been training on and that was probably my favorite part! It was a ton of fun to pass people! It gave me a rush. I couldn't believe it was already over when it was time to get out of the pool. Then I dashed to get changed poolside into my "diaper shorts" for the bike. Those shorts are imperative, let me tell you! They are incredibly important! So off I went to bike my 12 miles! There were some pretty steep hills that were hard. The second go round up the hills I was barely moving and guy running next to me (cause he'd already finished his biking) said, "Gear down" and I yelled out in frustration, "I am" and then I realized what he was saying..."gear down" so I did and it was so much easier and better! So after I finished the biking (with a little detour down the wrong way) I jumped off my bike and my quads felt like they were going to come right out of my skin! Every muscle in my body was pounding and everyone just kept cheering me on and yelling, "Don't stop! Just keep moving." As I started my run, I couldn't believe that I had to go to the bathroom and still continue this whole run for 3.2 miles...but off I went running and trying to just find joy in the journey. I was tempted to cut across the cemetary, but then I decided that I was going to do this thing right as the faster I go, the faster I will finish. So I kept on running (more like Jogging! I need new jogging shorts for sure) and then I look up and Jimmy is there! He finished long before me! He was kind and came back to run with me the rest of the way. The good thing is this is the exact same course I will do again in May! So I feel more prepared and I'm going to practice biking more!!! (and not go down any wrong roads!) So we finished and what did I see at the finish line? My mom and Hal! I just started crying, because she said she wasn't going to be able to make it and it made me so happy that she was there! It was really nice to have someone to just fall into at the finishline. Someone to just hug and callapse into that wouldn't judge me for being so exhausted!!! And there she was, that woman that I tend to fight with all the time, my mom! So we hugged, ate apples and bananas and drank lots of water, walked around and felt good! It was a great day! It truly is addicting! I'm excited for the next one! Oh, and along the trail I saw my friend Rachel, I taught swimming at her house last summer. It was an overall uplifting experience. Everyone could tell I was a newbee and they were all so nice and gave support and great tips. It was very positive. I suggest that anyone who needs a pick me up, do a run or competition of sometime, where you just compete with yourself! It is great!

They write your age on your calf to determine your category. It was crazy, cause I would look down at the people's ages passing, they were like 56 and stuff! Incredible people on this earth!

For the swimming part they write your number up and down your arm! Mine is finally coming off. This guy that night at sweet tomatoes where we went to dinner, goes "did you do a triatholon today?" I was like, "Yeah how did you know?" and he was like, "Cause your number." Who knew? But a whole bunch of people apparently cause I kept getting asked all week!

The finish line! 2:05 was my time.

Tracy's Hawaiian Bday

So Tracy had an amazing party and her roommate Jen is one of the most creative people I have ever met. She actually create a Tiki Bar and these awesome virgin drinks and a "sandy" beach and all this authentic food! It was a ton of fun and we sang amazingly to Kareoke!

Some recent randomness from life I haven't had time to update

Justin found his favorite painting that was appropriate to take a picture with. The other one he chose was not appropriate for a school function!
Jason and the water wheel! This was my favorite piece of art! It was really well done, cool and huge!

So I went to FHE a couple of weeks ago for Latin night and guess who was there? Randomly a missionary from my mission! Cool huh! It's been 6 years since we've been home. Wow! That dates me!

This one has been a while, but I loved it of Tara and her belly and those ridiculous glasses, cause really, the scary thing is they are coming back in and are popular. People are actually buying them! Crazy styles that cycle through. Who ever decided that the 80's should was smoking something!

Les sportin' the ducks!!! So ridiculous! These are Phoebe's PJ's that Les constantly gives her a hard time about. One day we were in a funny mood so Les decided to put them on and go downstairs in them! Phoebe didn't laugh too much, just like when I signed her up on LDS singles...I thought that was thoughtful!

Funny what IKEA will do to sell a bed! I thougth this was funny so I took a picture on my IKEA day! My life is filled with intersting fun things!

3rd Quarter Field trip

For the 3rd quarter field trip, we went to the Springville Art Museum and Jump on it! It was a lot of fun. A few of these are some art I liked. It was really funny, cause we got on the bus after the art museum to go to Jump on it and they had given rules to not eat on the bus. Well, all 3 of us teachers got on the bus and immediately opened our lunches and we were eating and realized that we weren't allowed! It was funny, cause we're as bad as the kids! In fact we're worse, cause none of them ate on the bus (that we know of!) It was a fun day!

Spring Fever

K so this update isn't much of an update since these are just old pictures I took from Hawaii last summer, it's just that I have been needing a vacation to somewhere with sand and a beach (hence the picture of my feet in the sand) I just can't wait for the next time I get to put my feet in the sand, run into the waves and lay on the beach for hours and read. Needless to say in these dreary winter months here's some fun summer pictures to look back and forward to!
